Are you the same as a registrar?

No, I am not a registrar. I am an Independent Wedding Celebrant, entirely independent of any belief or non-belief system, giving you the freedom to have a non-religious, semi-religious or spiritual ceremony. The content of your ceremony is unrestricted too so you can, if you wish, include religious or spiritual readings, music and vows.

What is the difference between a registrar and a celebrant?

A registrar will provide the legal marriage while a celebrant will write and deliver a bespoke wedding ceremony.

What is the benefit of a celebrant-led ceremony?

As there are no legal formalities therefore there are no restrictions. A celebrant conducted ceremony can be held at any time of the day or night and in any place. Candlelit ceremonies are becoming very popular and can be extremely romantic. Ceremonies can be held in outdoor spaces with very beautiful backdrops, at a venue or in the venue grounds, at your home, afloat or in flight or even on a mountain top! There are no restrictions on your ceremony duration either. The ceremony can be as short as 10 minutes or as long as an hour. It is entirely up to you.

Is it a legal marriage?

Celebrants cannot legally marry a couple in England but hopefully one day this will change. All you will need to do is arrange a convenient time to do the legal bit at your local registry office.

Remember to register your marriage or civil partnership at your local registry office for it to be legally recorded.

Where can we have our ceremony?

The wonderful thing about using a celebrant is you can have your wedding service whenever and wherever you want.

Are you insured if anything goes wrong?

Yes, I am a registered member of the International College of Professional Celebrants and I have Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance up to £5 million.

What do you require from us to secure our booking?

To secure your date in my diary, I ask for half my fee as a deposit. Once this is received, we can commence working together to design your ceremony and draft your script. The balance of my fee will be payable before your ceremony date.
